More Extreme Snowfall Friday 20 February 2026
Update 15:15 - Final decision is that Dou des Lanches will not open today. Safety is always the priority and work is on-going. It will open tomorrow.
Update 13:15 - Dou des Lanches now estimated for a 14:45 opening but obviously only if the pistes are deemed safe.
Update 11:00 - Hoping to get Dou des Lanches open for around 13:30 but no 3V link to Méribel. Loze chair on the Méribel side is not running today.
Update 10:30 - The 1850 Emile Allais Stade pistes are open to the public today! Thanks to Club des Sports for allowing this. Bouc Blanc now open.
Update 10:00 - AdF, Roc Mug, Biollay, Pralong, Plantrey, Forêt chairs are all now open. Family Park will remain closed due to snow drifts. Signal open 10:15.
Delayed openings of all higher lifts once again this morning despite teams working overnight and since early morning attempting to secure the ski area. Some higher sectors expected to be closed all day (Chanrossa & Saulire) and unlikely there will be any 3V link via Col de Loze even by afternoon.
A staggering 75cm of new snow since 14:00 Thursday with very strong winds overnight. Due to huge accumulations some pistes have had to be groomed twice overnight! The off piste avalanche risk is very complicated due to the amount of new snow and the wind effect. Currently at the maximum with a forecast to move to 4 out 5 (HIGH RISK) but S3V request for everyone's safety to exercise extreme caution and not to ski off piste today.
The snow depth on Saulire is now 300cm.
This photo (credit S3V) is from one of the Saulire Couloirs yesterday where a massive slab avalanche has broken away with a 2.5m snow depth - if anyone was in any doubt why there's delayed opening this morning...
Weather set to clear by Saturday, the whole ski area will be secured and top, top skiing next week!
As always, stay safe, enjoy those brilliant lower slopes this morning and always... T H I N K #latania

The new EU EES (Entry / Exit System) - We try it on the first day...
The much delayed EU EES (Entry / Exit System) started on Sunday 12 October 2025 with a “soft launch” (gradually rolled out and it can be suspended if there are issues ) and is designed to track access of non-EU citizens access to the 29 countries in the Schengen area. Ultimately it will make travel easier and enhance security. We tried it out on the first day... and then on the return journey had to do it all again - no idea why?
At the main UK arrival gate at Geneva Airport there are 16 un-manned kiosks available to take fingerprints, photos and passport scans prior to going through the normal manned passport check and stamp. Queues seem to build up due to lack of staff at the normal passport check rather than any kind of bottleneck at the kiosks.
