Confirmed Lift & Piste Opening Schedule for Saturday 15 December 2018

Since the snow at the weekend S3Vs teams have been working flat out preparing the slopes and producing mammoth amounts of cannoned snow.

S3V have confirmed  the opening of lifts is as planned – from way back in August – with nearly the whole ski area open except for the Chanrossa area and some duplicate lifts not running (Coqs and Chapelets the only significant ones not running).

See you Saturday, first lift at La Tania Gondola…!

What a Day! Snow Conditions Update…

The first proper day of the season as it was sunny and cloudless.

A lot more open today in Courchevel and snow cannons were blasting all the way along Folyères down to La Tania ready for the weekend opening.

The Three Valleys access today was via Méribel but high winds stopped the Bruyeres second stage opening so there was no access to Val Thorens today (as Côte Brun was also not open).

The whole area is gradually opening up and a rough non-professional estimate is that 90% of pistes could be opened at the weekend. Looking like a “better than average” start to the season.

A rough estimate of snow depth on Moretta Blanche is 70cm.

Official snow depth on Saulire is a base of 125cm with 69cm of fresh snow over the weekend.

Runs down to La Tania officially closed and Folyères was much to hard with all the snow cannoned mounds of snow – we hear the read was good though!

Snow! Pics from this morning in La Tania & Courchevel

La Tania this morning!

Empty slopes this morning in Courchevel and plenty of fresh snow for those wo’ve made the effort of getting up the mountain. Strong winds and the associated avalanche risk means Saulire is unlikely to open today. The off piste avalanche risk is now at 4 out of 5 (HIGH RISK).

The altiport drag lift is now open expanding the area for beginners and the next scheduled lifts to open (although probably not today due to the conditions) are Aiguille du Fruit and Chenus.

Saulire reporting 51cm of fresh snow bringing the base up to 111cm and further snow showers forecast all day.
