Euro 2020: England v Italy

11 July 2021 – England 1 Italy 1
AET Italy won 3-2 on pens

Luke Shaw gave England the lead after only 2 minutes and for the first half an hour we were the better team but 2nd half we struggled and inevitably Extra Time and Penalties followed…. Enough said about it and the shambolic Wembley stewarding and policing. Onwards to Budapest in seven weeks time…

Work begins on removal of Troika Lift and the upgrade of the La Tania beginners area

Work has finally started on the upgrade to the snow front area in the centre of La Tania. This will massively improve the facilities for beginners with 2 magic carpet / travelator type lifts replacing the current Troika drag lift.

These 2 free lifts will be open to all and will be separated from the main Folyères pistes which willl loop around them keeping beginners and kids safe from skiers heading straight down to the village or gondola.

New Extension to the Downhill VTT Track on Creux

There’s an extension to the downhill VTT track down Creux being constructed. It’s not finished yet but looks like it will take you above the link piste back to 1850 rather than having to join the main piste / track.

Sussex Boat Trips – A new venture from the owner of La Tania transfer company Three Vallee Transfers

In 2 weeks time Sussex Boat Trips launch their brand new boat Illuminate, a 10m Humber RIB powered by twin Suzuki 250HP outboards and capable of carrying up to 12 passengers at cruising speeds of up to 30 Knots.

John Simcock, owner of Three Vallee Transfers, one of the longest established, reliable and reputable transfer companies in The 3 Valleys has had this idea and wish for many years – the pandemic situation bringing this project forward, time to start fulfilling some dreams…

The white cliffs of the Seven Sisters

From their base in the busy port of Newhaven situated between Brighton and Eastbourne on the South Coast they will be able to show you the famous white cliffs of the Seven Sisters from a totally different perspective.

A range of trips to view Beachy Head Lighthouse, Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, the sights and sounds of Brighton’s Palace and West Piers, the Marina, bustling beaches, Roedean & Saltdean or end the day with a magical sunset cruise…

Brighton Marina

As well as scheduled one or two hour trips they will be offering private skippered charters so you and a group of mates can rent the boat and be taken where you want. Commercial charters for filming, surveys, safety cover etc will also be offered and options for School & Colleges, Corporate Team Building, Ornithologists, Photographers, even Stag & Hen Parties are all catered for. All with a high standard of safety equipment, operational procedures and experienced, first aid trained crew – all skippers are volunteers with the RNLI too.

A Sunset Cruise – everyone deserves this for a special occasion after the year we’ve had

John and Three Vallee Transfers have been (and will continue to be) a mainstay of La Tania and a supporter of latania.co.uk for over 20 years – we wish him all the best in this new venture and if you’re thinking of heading down that way give them a shout, it looks like a great day out and we certainly can’t wait to try it out!

Courchevel Ski Area, Winter Fun In La Tania

It’s in the heart of the largest ski area in the world, Les 3 Vallées (Tarentaise – Savoie), halfway between Courchevel and Méribel, that we find the young ski resort of La Tania, born in 1990. The resort designed by architect Jacques Labro, is made up of chalets, residences and hotels. Perched at an altitude of 1400 m, La Tania, labelled Station Verte, manages to blend harmoniously into its natural site. We’ll now have you discover this beautiful mountain resort.

The Village Of La Tania, A Friendly Space for The Whole Family

The village of La Tania has its own ski shops, tourist office, supermarkets, post office as well as a good selection of restaurants and bars. There is an interesting music scene in the evening after a good day of skiing. Renowned restaurants are also an essential place of conviviality. People often get together for a raclette or fondue and then everyone goes about their business before falling asleep: watching a movie, playing games on their phone like Jazzyspins.com. The village is also perfect for children with its park, swings and slides. Many nearby walks are possible for non-skiers and those with small children.

A Ski Area Popular with Tourists

The resort mainly attracts families looking for a rejuvenating stay in the mountains. Children can play there freely and in complete safety whether on foot, skiing or sledding. The La Tania ski area offers a few slopes with the Zen Zone located on the snow front (free Troïka ski lift), the Zen Zone Montania located at the arrival of the La Tania cable car, a beautiful green slope (Plan Fontaine) and finally the long blue slope of Folyères. The ski slopes of La Tania provide quick access to the largest ski area in the world: that of the 3 Valleys and its 600 km of slopes!

Activities In La Tania

Whether you are a skier or not, La Tania offers many activities during the day or in the evening. In summer, La Tania, Courchevel, Méribel and Brides-les-Bains, all close to each other, offer a wide range of activities ranging from water sports to hiking at altitude. If La Tania does not have real play areas, a few minutes of skiing is enough to reach its very close neighbour Courchevel where you can find the Western Skipark, Snake Park, Fun Park, Family Park or the Carabosse Piste. So many scripted and furnished spaces for even more fun!

Snowshoeing: The Resort’s Asset

For the practice of snowshoeing, two routes departing from La Tania allow you to enjoy the large wooded areas that surround the resort. There is the Chevreuils circuit allowing you to reach Courchevel – Le Praz (return or shuttle or by the same route). There is also the path to La Clairière des Teppes leading to a beautiful clearing which invites a picnic break.

Keeping the Tourist Office in La Tania – Sign the petition now!

We’re giving this another push for some more signatures… Sign Here!

The Tourist Office is a valuable resource in La Tania but there are plans to close it down and rely on the services of 1850 and Le Praz. Despite spending hundreds of millions of Euros on the 2023 World Cup as a huge publicity drive and kudos for Courchevel, removing the Tourist Office that really provides the PR, support and help for visitors seems to be a step backwards. There were reports that the ESF were going to provide some kind of Tourist Office support but surely this would be a secondary and hardly independent service.

The essential services provided for all visitors include information and reservations on all the available activities in Summer & Winter plus leaflets, flyers & brochures and a central location for posters of all the weekly events – even daily comprehensive weather forecasts are displayed. In addition they supply help with transport links, underground car parking spaces, organise events & entertainments for all, welcome drinks and even welcome breakfasts at the gondola station.

It also serves as a Post Office, Lost (and found) Property location, WiFi provider, photocopying & laminating point, sports equipment rental & tennis court reservation / key holding as well as being a central information and support hub to keep the community together.

There have been some great staff over the years, all multilingual, friendly and helpful that have really promoted La Tania and help show the resort off in the best way.

The Petition Details Translated below:

TO MAINTAIN A COURCHEVEL TOURISM OFFICE IN LA TANIA.

We, residents, owners and holidaymakers, as users of the tourist office, ask for the maintaining of a Courchevel Tourist Office in La Tania. In addition to the exchange of information, the Tourist Office manages the reservation schedule and the handing over of keys to the tennis court, the loan of ping-pong, volleyball, pétanque equipment, etc. plus a WiFi and Post Office service.

All of these services are more than essential to the friendliness of La Tania, to customer loyalty and resort life. Maintaining this position is obviously fundamental for the promotion of Courchevel and the quality of holiday seasons.

The Tourist Office is the showcase of the resort! La Tania has already lost a lot following the merger with Courchevel and we must stop making bad budget choices for the sake of economic savings to the detriment of quality.

For the attention of Courchevel Tourisme and the Mayor of Courchevel.
