Visit a Local Market

Visiting a local market is a great way to experience the culture and get to know the locals. It’s also a great way to get to know the local cuisine. Markets usually sell fresh produce, meats, seafood, spices, snacks, souvenirs and so much more. Visiting a market can be a lot of fun, as it is usually full of vendors who will haggle with you for a better price. Visiting a local market also allows you to connect with the locals, who will be more than happy to chat with you and tell you about their culture. Be sure to bring cash, as most markets don’t accept credit cards or other forms of payment.

Play Some Games at A Casino

If you’re looking for a fun and exciting way to spend your free time on vacation, why not consider playing some games at a casino? Casinos are great places to try your luck, practice your poker face, or just have some fun with friends and family. CasinoHawks is a great place to find all kinds of popular table games like roulette, blackjack, craps, and baccarat. If you’re feeling brave, you can also take a chance on the slots. There are plenty of different denominations and games to choose from so you’ll be sure to find something that appeals to you.

You can also find a variety of video gaming machines in some casinos. Whether it’s your favorite classic or the newest game on the market, casinos are filled with plenty of ways to keep you entertained.

If you’re a fan of sports betting, many casinos offer sportsbooks where you can place bets on a variety of sports. You can bet on your favorite teams or players, or even try your luck at a prop bet or two.

Playing games at a casino is a great way to pass the time while on vacation. With so many different options available, you’ll have plenty of chances to win big!

Go Skiing

If you’re looking for an outdoor activity that will get your blood pumping, then go skiing! Plus, it’s an incredibly effective form of exercise. Skiing is a great way to enjoy the winter season and have a blast on vacation. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced skier, there are plenty of slopes and trails to choose from. Many resorts offer lessons, rentals, and lift tickets, so you don’t have to worry about carrying all your gear with you. If you’re new to skiing, you can also find plenty of lessons and instruction to help you get started. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it, you can take advantage of ski lifts that will take you to the top of the mountain. Skiing can be a great way to explore the outdoors and enjoy the scenery while getting some exercise at the same time.

Before embarking on your adventure, make sure you check the weather and choose appropriate clothing and footwear.

Attend a Local Festival

If you’re looking for a unique way to spend your free time on vacation, attending a local festival can be a great experience. Depending on where you’re staying, you may have access to a variety of cultural events, such as music festivals, art festivals, or food festivals. These events offer an opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture of your destination and have a lot of fun.

Before you attend, it’s important to check out the website of the local festival to make sure that it is appropriate for the age of the people you will be taking with you. It’s also important to know what kind of activities are offered and whether there are any restrictions. Once you have all the information, you can decide if the festival is right for you.

At the festival, take advantage of all the activities available. Try some new food, watch a performance, dance to live music, or shop around for souvenirs. Local festivals also often feature workshops and demonstrations related to the culture of the region. No matter which local festival you choose to attend, make sure to take lots of photos and videos to capture all the fun memories!

Go Camping

Camping is a great way to get away from it all and enjoy some time outdoors. Whether you are looking for a short weekend getaway or a longer excursion, camping is an excellent option for your vacation. There are a variety of camping spots around the world, and each offers its own unique experience.

When you go camping, you can explore nature, relax in the peaceful atmosphere, and reconnect with yourself and the environment. Camping is also a great way to bond with friends and family as you have plenty of time to talk, eat, play games, and enjoy each other’s company.

When camping, it is important to make sure you have all the necessary supplies. This includes sleeping bags, tents, food, water, cookware, matches or lighters, flashlights, and other supplies. Make sure to check the weather before going so that you are adequately prepared for any conditions. Also, remember to respect the environment by leaving your campsite cleaner than when you arrived.

Once you have all your gear ready, find a great spot to set up your tent and start exploring! Depending on where you camp, there may be activities available like fishing, kayaking, hiking, and more. Enjoy the outdoors, get some fresh air and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Rent a Bike

If you’re looking for an inexpensive and easy way to explore the local area, why not rent a bike? Not only is biking a great exercise, but it also gives you the chance to really get a feel for the culture and scenery of the area. You can rent a bike from almost any bike rental shop or tour company in town.

The great thing about renting a bike is that you can do it at your own pace. Go as fast or slow as you want and stop along the way to explore hidden gems and take in the sights. Most bike rental shops also have helmets, so make sure to pick one up if you plan on biking around.

Renting a bike is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while on vacation and get some exercise at the same time. Plus, it’s a fun way to explore a new place. So grab a helmet and hit the open road!

Great Snow in and around La Tania – 16 January 2023

Thanks to Sallyann from Ski-Dazzle and Ralph from The Freeride Republic for the pics. More snow today but a break in the weather and a spot of sunshine for a while in the early afternoon really rewarded those that headed out!

1650 Luge opens Sunday, hire a luxury gondola & get First Tracks

The F1 Moriond Racing Luge track opens at last this Sunday 15 January 2023. It will be open Wednesdays to Sundays and costs €16 a run (sledge included). A great experience and a wild start be prepared to crash at least once!

First Tracks are available (at a ridiculous price) where you’re allowed access to the ski area before anyone else to enjoy the perfect corduroy.

And talking of crazy prices – want to hire your own gondola for the day?

More Lift Pass Saving Tips

Following the reaction to the Blog Post about the Courchevel Mini Pass for €34 for a day that now includes the Bouc Blanc and Pralong chairlifts we’ve a few other saving tips that are not widely advertised.

Firstly, on any Saturday you can buy a 3 Valleys Day Pass for €57.60 – a full 20% discount. This means skiing the 3 Valleys is cheaper than skiing the Courchevel Valley!
Adult Day Pass Three Valleys €72
Adult Day Pass Courchevel €65
NOTE THAT THIS IS ONLY FOR PURCHASES ON-LINE BY MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THE DISCOUNT IS NOT AVAILABLE AT TICKET OFFICES. THERE IS NO CHILD OR SENIOR RATE AND IT IS NOT COMBINABLE WITH ANY OTHER OFFERS.

Secondly, there are now another couple of season passes at €695
Skiflex – 20 3V lifts per week, then €11 per lift (with daily cap).
2/7 – 2 days out of 7 on 3V then normal day pass rate.

There is also a Courchevel Valley 3/7 – 3 days out of 7 for €735 and Junior (13/17) & Young (18-29) season passes.
Under 30 Courchevel Season Pass €896
Under 30 Three Valleys Season Pass €1042.30
Adult Courchevel Season Pass €1489
Adult Three Valleys Season Pass €1280

Full Adult Passes get 2 free 3V Adult Day passes for friends. 4.5% Tribu discount available too on 3V passes if you buy 3 or more together.

The Liberty PAYG pass costs €30 per year and you get 10% off (20% on a Saturday) 3V or Courchevel day rates plus 9th day free then every 6th day.

Finally, you can take one lift up for €11 or two for €18 – useful option to get home from Méribel if you haven’t got a 3V Pass (upgrade is now a ridiculous €43).

One other thing – Adults are classed as over 13 on normal passes. With the family pass you are not an Adult until you are over 18! And no, you don’t have to ski together…..

Courchevel Mini Pass includes Bouc Blanc Chairlift – Gamechanger?

The poorly advertised Courchevel Mini-Pass is a useful option for beginners and first time skiers for their first few days (but check with your ski school), but also for those arriving in resort mid afternoon who fancy a few runs to get their ski legs back.

The above map (which is still included on the lift company website) shows only the La Tania gondola included on our side of the mountain although red run skiers could head down to Le Praz and link in to 1850 via the Praz gondola where the major lifts of Verdons and Pralong are included. A bus back to La Tania is required after skiing down to Le Praz (buses run from Le Praz to La Tania every 15-25 minutes for Winter 2023 – timetable here).

We weren’t aware that the Bouc Blanc chairlift is included on the mini-pass meaning you can ski via green runs to 1850 and use the excellent beginner slopes of Ferme / Altiport for example. Apologies if this has always been the case but it’s just come to our attention.

It certainly opens up a decent amount of skiing for an afternoon even if staying on the La Tania side.

The mini-pass costs €34 – no reduction for kids, pensioners or half-day discounts (under 5s and over 75s get a free 3 Valleys season pass).

For comparison:
Courchevel one-day €65 (kids under 13 €52)
Courchevel 4 hour €55 (kids under 13 €44)
3 Valleys one-day €72 (kids under 13 €57.60)
3 Valleys 4 hour €63 (kids under 13 €50.40)

Thanks to Andy L for the heads up.
